The Boss

The purpose of this editorial was to challenge how we view power. Traditionally, power in America has always been portrayed as white, old, and male. The Boss asks us, What does it look like when there’s a cocky black girl with a slick mouth in charge?

What does it look like to me when she is not expected to shrink or make herself smaller to appease a system that seems hell bent on telling her, “You are not enough?”

To me the Boss in its true essence, is freedom. It is the ability to wear 6-inch heels to work, because who is going to tell you that you can’t?

It’s the ability to say no! The ability to say, you’re fired! And even better, to say “Fuck You!” & lose nothing as a result.

The Muse & MASCULINITY THROUGH THE FEMININE GAZE

Combining softness, beauty, and masculinity, Masculinity Through The Feminine Gaze is meant to take the viewer on a visual journey that depicts male attractiveness through the lens of a woman. It hones in on the intensity of a man’s stare, the elegance of the way he wears his hair, and the aesthetic power of a man that can seamlessly glide through androgyny with ease.

Nick, a handsome cargo pants wearing Pokémon nerd from Queens allowed himself to be my muse for the editorial.

When styling him, there was multitude of questions that came to mind. The main one however, was—'"How can I transform this already handsome man, into a man who women would make bad decisions for?”

What archetypes would he embody, & what does that look like in motion?
